Services

The Basics:

  • We work with both neurotypical and neurodiverse individuals. The latter range from clients with anxiety, attention deficit, OCD, or learning disabilities to clients with autism and communication difficulties requiring intense supports.

  • We team coach teens and young adults where a peer mentor would be most effective; Dr. Show individually coaches other age groups and their families.

  • We work one-on-one and in small interactive group settings.

  • We accept private, church, school, and autism community support group funding

  • We offer single problem-solving sessions or multi-session series that focus on a longer term goals  such as promoting social/emotional learning, improving academic performance, or creating person-centered plans that can be shared with school districts, regional center service coordinators, or independent facilitators for self-determination

For individuals or organizations interested in engaging us for life coaching services, please contact us to discuss next steps.

The first 45 minute session is free.

We are available to coach over Zoom or in person at Dr. Show’s medical office at 1808 Verdugo Blvd, Suite 206, Glendale, CA 91208.

[Peter] regularly exhibits grace and professionalism while steering the conversation in a penetrating direction. He easily picks up on areas where I feel uncertain and has effortlessly unpacked it all as to help me introspect more deeply and understand concrete steps toward my goals. Together, we decide on a ‘well-designed action’ I can undergo throughout the week to keep me on track and help me establish better habits; thus, his coaching has been quite fruitful… [resulting in] lasting effects in my demeanor and everyday outlook.

Coaching Series Options

Peter and I each have our rates for individual sessions. However, since we have found that it takes regular, multiple sessions to achieve the best sustained results, we offer discounted packages of prepaid series of multiple weekly sessions. Each series includes the development of better self-awareness and social emotional learning, but has a different emphasis:

Series One: Create Your Vision is to help individuals develop their own visions for the future and translating that into person-centered plans (PCPs) that can be used in self-determination. We offer the option of a holistic family approach that incorporates a parent or primary care giver in the sessions for team building and coordination of support. There are ten 90-minute sessions altogether to explore interests and self-awareness of strengths and values to co-create a vision based on who you are and who you want to be. We talk about resilience, flow, motivation, assumptions, perspective-taking, growth mindset, team building, and self-advocacy; social emotional learning goals are incorporated into the sessions and into the PCP objectives. This is our flagship series for which we are Lanterman Regional Center authorized vendors (vendor no. PD4192, service code 102). (Clients from other California regional centers may also receive this series for free by requesting authorization of this service through courtesy vendorization.)

Series Two: Improving Emotional IQ introduces a series of social-emotional learning concepts (including understanding personality, forming efficient systems or habits, harnessing motivation, self-cognitive behavioral therapy, improving relationships, and emotional self-regulation) to improve emotional IQ, including executive function and perspective-taking. A parent or caregiver is invited to attend one or more sessions as desired (consent required for non-conserved adult clients).

Series Three: Student Empowerment is life coaching tailored for students to give them tools for personal and academic success. A parent or caregiver is invited to attend one or more sessions as desired (consent required for non-conserved adult clients).

Series Four: Writing for Wellness helps individuals learn to use poetry, narrative, and reflective journaling for emotional regulation, personal growth, and as a creative outlet. A parent or caregiver is invited to attend one or more sessions as desired (consent required for non-conserved adult clients).

Series Five: Parents Count is ten 60-minute sessions for parents to receive life coaching from Dr. Show. The challenges of parenting an individual with special needs can be Herculean. Whether your concern is how to better support your child’s development, cope with your stress and emotions, or just have a sounding board to develop or move forward with your own vision, life coaching from another parent who understands is a good starting point toward greater well-being. We firmly believe that the better you support the parent, the better you support the child. Parents need and deserve nurturing too!

Series Six: Continuity for Proactivity is a reduced cost option available only for clients who have completed any of our other series. We believe every person can benefit from having the continued support of a life coach to help them create and meet new goals and navigate through life, and this option makes it financially possible. Purchase ten sessions at a time at a discounted rate to use weekly, biweekly, or monthly.

Make-up sessions are available at limited times for one month after the session series is scheduled to end.

Nonverbal or partially verbal clients are required to provide their own trained and familiar communication support partner (which may be a parent).

We welcome all feedback and suggestions and strive to resolve all issues to our clients’ satisfaction. For Regional Center clients, any unresolved complaints may be directed to the California Department of Developmental Services at 916-654-1987 or www.dds.ca.gov/complaints.
