The CDC estimates 1 in 54 children have autism. They are growing into young adults, most of whom continue to have challenges in communication and social interaction.

Who can help these teens and young adults successfully transition into a meaningful, more independent life when school services end at 22 years old?

Life coaching has proven efficacy.

It reduces distress in young people (Flynn, et.al. 2018)

It improves student engagement and hope (Green, 2007)

ASD college students specifically cite individual coaching and help from peers with ASD as their most beneficial intervention (Hees, 2015)

We need more life coaches for young people with ASD, particularly peer coaches who can understand and relate.

Our Practice

Through peer life coaching, we support your children through the teen and young adult transition years to help them to become more successful in and out of school, continue to grow and develop their cognitive, social, and emotional capacities, discover their strengths and values, develop identity and personal vision, and learn to adopt a positive, growth mindset to serve them lifelong.

Our process is to discover each individual’s profile of strengths, challenges, and neurologic differences, explore who they are and want to be, incorporate their interests to spark initiative to decide on the next steps toward growing into their potential, and to support implementation.

Our tools are to shed assumptions, to listen deeply with caring, gentleness, and patience, to adopt an attitude of presumed competence in co-creating the next action steps, and to employ teamwork and collaboration to build supports and accountability.

Our life coaching is developmental, individual difference and relationship-based; meaningful growth occurs when enough time and support are given for individuals to take the initiative and grow at their own pace.

Because growth occurs over time, we use grants and scholarships to create affordable, sustainable rates for our client families. We offer our flagship life coaching Series One on helping clients develop a vision and person-centered plan at no cost to regional center clients, as it is an authorized vendored service.

Because the growth of the individual is so deeply tied to familial support, for those individuals who prefer it, we offer a holistic family approach where parent(s) are invited to participate in one or any number of sessions; individual parent coaching is also available.

Life coaching for neurodiverse individuals from one who has walked the path.

Peter is very encouraging to me. He is a positive person who knows how to calm me down in my stressful life situations, and he asks good questions.
— young working adult with ASD | Requiring mild supports
Our relationship with Dr. Joyce Show developed years ago as our paths crossed when we met in the autistic community. We have a 23 year-old autistic daughter. On countless occasions in which my husband and I had challenging situations with our daughter, Dr. Show held our hands through the most excruciating situations and helped us through to the other side. She has been nothing less than attentive, delicate in her approach, and passionate in offering different approaches and ideas medically and therapeutically. Dr. Show as a mother of an autistic young adult has a keen intuition into the autism world and makes her easy to relate to. Her insight and understanding and parent-to-parent support is so precious and valuable to us in treating our family’s needs.
